Bylaws Updates

The proposed amendments for the Arizona State PTA Bylaws and the Unified Local PTA/PTSA unit bylaws will be posted by Friday April 15. They will be password protected as these documents are proprietary to Arizona PTA and its local units. The password will be the same as the one used for the proprietary documents in the Local Leaders Resources section of this website.

PROPOSED Arizona PTA State Bylaws 2016 Amendments

2014 Arizona PTA State Bylaws (before proposed amendments)

Please be sure to read the above attachment thoroughly as there are many amendments that are being proposed for the State PTA Bylaws. Please review the original version so that you can compare the two documents if need be.

PROPOSED Unified Local PTA/PTSA Bylaws Amendments

There is one amendment to the Unified Local PTA/PTSA bylaws. It is Article VII (Members and Dues) Section 13. It has been proposed to insert a subsection which shall read:

a) Each local PTA/PTSA must secure a minimum of ten (10) members annually, which shall include the Unit Officers.

The rationale for this amendment is to ensure that there are enough voices to ensure a broad enough point of view to make decisions.

There has also been a change throughout to change the term ‘basic policies’ to the term ‘principles’ as suggested by our association’s attorney as well as to include starred items that are unable to be amended as those amendments would conflict with the National PTA bylaws. This is considered ‘housekeeping’ and isn’t
