January STM

Roxanne Lopez is not just a kindergarten teacher at Mountain View. She is a team lead, a peer mentor, on the Principal's cabinet and she is a CaLL Candidate in addition to a teacher representative for kindergarten at all PTA meetings. She was one of the first teachers to join PTA this school year. She encourages her families to join PTA in every weekly eBlast she sends out. She made sure her entire team joined the PTA before the start of the school year. She encourages participation in all the PTA functions and even offers prizes to those that do. In her most recent eBlast to families, she shared about how the most current fundraiser the PTA is holding helps her classroom personally to highlight the teacher/PTA partnership. With respect to her classroom, Mrs. Lopez greets every child every morning with a smile and a hug. She stays late every evening to figure to how to differentiate learning for those students having difficulty. She makes herself available to parents at any time to meet with them to discuss their child's individual needs. She comes up with creative ways to encourage student learning and differentiates learning to meet with each child's needs. She even went so far as to implement flexible seating in her classroom to best support her students. Mrs. Lopez truly embodies what it means to put the "T" in PTA.
